Max mix reactor mod

So i accidentally dropped my atomic diffuser and it broke the co2 attachment off so I decided to use an old max mix reactor I had lying around but Im using it in the tank. It's pretty ugly in there but it's a temporary solution til I get around to building a reactor. But instead of using it like you normally would I put my co2 line into the powerhead and another line into the max mixes co2 port and into the powerhead also. I did this because bubble kept leaking though the mix maxes co2 port. I came home for lunch today and my fish were all at the surface gasping for air. I'm only running 2 bps at 20 psi can this reactor really be that efficent? My tank has an aquaticlife dual t5ho fixture with a ray 2 coming on 2 hours a day. For a total of 6 hours of light a day
