I have just installed new 250W MH on the 125 and my corals are not opening up as well and I am having a terrible algae bloom (Smothering Corals Too). The other thing is that I have just transplanted about 70lbs of coralline encrusted algae and no it is turning whitish. I transported the LR submerged too. So all of this is going on and I don'tknow what to do. I am dripping Kalk as well. Please help me figure out what to do about the green algae bloom.

Algea is caused mainly by excess nutrients not by the light directly. Algae grows due to nitrates and phosphates;intense lighting will make it worse! Best bet is use an RO/DI unit to make all the water and make sure you run a good skimmer and practicce good tank maintenence!

Did you use a slow period of acclimation for the new lighting? Adding MH to an existing reef can be shocking if it is done too fast.
