I just put a new light on my tank will this light cause algae to grow?

14000w? Or 14000k?
 
Hahaha ya definitely 14000w. Lol. It's not the bulb, it's your water. You have excess nutrients and you need to get rid of them to kill the algae.

Lighting does not grow algae, nutrients grow algae. Lighting differences just mean the difference of how much faster it will grow and this is based on the amount of light. As any light with nutrients will grow algae.

Algae should never be a concern when thinking about lighting options. Depending on your old lighting if you have nutrients then you will probably see an increase in algae growth. However get rid of the nutrients and the problem will go away.
