I just removed my filter sponge in my bc 14. I heard they were nitrate factories. Now I'm having micro bubble issues. Any ideas?

Clean the sponge and put it back or get a new sponge. Yes they can trap nitrate but that doesn't mean you cannot use them, just rinse clean in old tank water after a water change.
