mineral buildup

I have two freshwater tanks and the worst part is the mineral buildup you always get around the frame of the tank and also the filter. Do you still have that problem with saltwater tanks?

Salt builds up around the top of the tank and the filters also.

Yes- you get a good salt buildup with saltwater tanks, and even moreso than any mineral buildup with freshwater tanks. Just keep good maintenance with your tank and you should be fine.
