Hi all,

I am considering setting up a fish only tank for a puffer. I have a real sweetheart for them, but won't put one in my community reef. What do you think the minimal requirements for such a tank would be? I would use non-natural filtration -- not live rock/live sand. I'd consider any Puffer, Porcupine, Boxfish, or Cowfish, but only one fish for this tank.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
Jason

Have you considered the smaller Canthigastar species like the Valentini Puffer? Some of these puffers could be housed in 20-30g aquariums.

Porcupine, Boxfish, or Cowfish, are not the best choices.
why no LR? a 55 to start and when the puffer got large a 90 would be best. do some reading on these fish before making a jump..

Have you considered the Dogface? They get big (12"+), but they have the best personality. They also need a big tank (125g+, 180g reccomeneded). I have had mine for a few days now (I have had other Puffers in the past), and he is by far, my favorite. Hope you consider one!
