I commented on a thread 7-19 Emaciated molly

I had a molly with wasting disease at the same time.

My male molly was so bad it had no stomach ,super skinny, and could not swim right.

I put the molly in one of my saltwater QT tanks. Salinity at 1.024 SG

I fed it 3 times a day its reg. food formula 2 flakes. Same as I feed all my mollies.

Its been 20 days the fish has been in marine salt.

This fish looks like he has made a full recovery.

Swimming normal, body shape normal. very aggressive eater.

I will keep him in the salt for 40 more days. then return him to his regular tank.

I want to see if there is a relapse of the disease.

No other of my mollies have had this disease.

Nice recovery! If I recall correctly, mollies in the wild may swim between fresh and salty water to remove parasites? (was just a blog article though).

Good info, as always. Never had it with any of mine, but will keep an eye out. I don't have any sw tanks set up. I do have marine salt around that I've used with my mollies for various things though.

I know it was not caused by parasites.

My mollies go through full QT copper treatment and then internal parasitic treatment.

every one of them.
