Aquarium Advice Addict
I wanted to have a night light for the fish, but didn't want to pay 30 bucks for a little LED assembly. So, I went to the computer store and picked up some computer case lights, got some aluminum foil from the kitchen (The reason is twofold, to reflect the light down and also to attempt to shield the tubes from the heat), and a 12V wall transformer from my parts box. I'd have to say it came out rather well. The two "bulbs" lay under the PC light. I added a fan under the fixture to help dissipate some of the heat. Previously, the top of the fixture was hot. Now it's only warm.
The little blue box is a mini ballast for the lights, apparently they are fluorescent tubes.
(And yes, I'm going to do something with those wires )
