no different pieces wont leach differnt colours it will be the same yellowish water google "black water fish tank" and thats the water colour you will get some cases are a bit more extreme then others but if you put a mesh bag of active carbon in the back of the filter it is realy good at keeping the water generaly clear it will be a bit yellow for a long time tho it takes almost a year to get totaly out of the tank if you just put it right in the tank this also depends on the size of the piece biger piece more tannis

Basically, it's tea colored. Best way I can describe it. Bigger the piece, the more tannins. I don't miind the look. Some hate it.
