I moved some fish around today, so now I have an empty, cycled 20 gallon long tank. I thought maybe I'd try something new. Aside from a few amano shrimp I had a few years ago and bunch of ghost and cherry shrimp that were intended to be food, I've never done invertebrates. Maybe shrimp, or crayfish, possibly a panther crab? Although the tank is planted, so maybe not a crab.

What are your favorite invertebrates that could live happily in a freshwater, planted, 20 gallon long tank with sand substrate? Do crayfish need gravel?

Fairy shrimp and clam shrimp look kinda cool. Any suggestions?

Oh, if your suggested critter needs a bit of land access, I can rig up an underwater island maybe.

Empty 20 gallon long? Maybe do an invertebrate paradise tank.

I like CPOs, they're bright orange and peaceful crayfish. Throw in 2-3 CPO's, few amanos, few RCS, few tangerine tiger shrimp, sterbai's cory cats, and some otocinclus.

That'd be a wonderful tank in my book :)

That sounds pretty great :) The crayfish won't try to pinch anyone?
