I just bought a house and will be moving the first week of July. *happy dance*
BUT now I have to deal with moving my tank. I have never done this before. I don't even know where to start or what to do. If anybody can tell me how they've done it or have any advice/tips/tricks I am ALL FOR IT. My tank is a 72G bowfront and it is full of fish (platys, mollies, tetras, plecos, bettas). Some decor and about 1.5 inches of sand in there. The house is not far from where I am now- so very minimal drive time (I'm talking like 8 minutes away).
Any feedback is much appreciated- just looking for a good plan so when it comes time I can execute.

Actually did it a while ago...
Back then I only had me 10 g tanks al do I have 5.

Tip, take extra time... haha.

Took them one by one, putted the fish in a 5 g bucket.
(fill the bucket for 30% and drive carefully)
Took the water out the tanks to about 20% and drove them to me new place.
Had already water ready at the temperature the tank was sitting before.
So directly filled it back up at me new place and putted the fish in a smaller container.
Hang the smaller container in the tank to let the fish acclimatize...
Until the temperature was close enough to let them out.

Was only a 15 minute drive so for oxygen I used a plastic straw to swirl the water around a bit.
it was 22 degrees Celsius out there so didn't use any heaters.
And knowing both houses have the same water source that was fine to.

Because you have a 72G I would take a lot more water out.
Just make sure that the sand stays bellow the water level.
When you pour the water back in use a bowl so you don't stir the sand.
Also make sure your filter medium stays wet, both for beneficial bacteria.
And you gonna need a bigger bucket...

Uhmm... anything I forgot?
