In a few weeks, I'll be moving from my summer apartment to a college dorm. I have a betta fish in a filtered and heated 5 gallon tank that is (hopefully) in the final stages of cycling. What do I have to do to make sure that I don't have to re-cycle the aquarium once I move?

Hopefully a short travel time.
During the move, keep your filter media in old tank water and set it up asap upon arrival.
Don't worry too much about your bettas. Remember bettas are usually kept in 8 oz.plastic cups w/lids and no filtration in fish stores until they are sold.
Bettas can swim to the surface and actually breath air when their tank water goes bad.
No worries.

Just drain it halfway and move the whole aquarium. Fill it back up in the new place and call it a water change. How heavy can it be?
