moving to larger tank

one more question. I will be moving from a 55 gal to a 80 gal in a couple of weeks. Will have to add more sand to compensate. Was told to put new sand at bottom of the new tank and than add the sand from the 55 gal on top. Is this correct?

yes that is correct the old sand will seed the new sand.
