My 20gallon needs to be moved. What do YOU think is the best way to move a tank to another room? Drain most of the water and then move it? Put the fish and water in buckets saving half the water and completely empty the tank of water?

STEP-BY-STEP

1. Take 3/4 of the water out, keep all the fish in the tank.
2. Dispose of the water
3. Get the desired location ready, if the tank has stacked rock's or something similar that might fall over while moving take that out.
4. Slide the tank off of whatever it is on, never try to life the tank from the top rim. It could possibly come off.
5. Pick the tank up from the BOTTOM
6. Place in the desired location.
7. Fill the tank back up.

You wouldn't have to keep the water from the old set up and putting it back into the tank, just take as much water as needed so you can handle carrying the thing, which would be around 80-90%. Your Bacteria is in the filter, so as long as you keep it wet they should be fine for awhile, hardly no bacteria is in the water itself. When you set up the new tank just use a water conditioner and your good to go!
