So, I messed up and gave my tank a 7 day feeder block, before doing research on them beforehand. My bad. I was gone for a week and now know I could leave my tetra for a week without feeding them.

Now I am back from dog-sitting, and the block has shrunk. I think I should remove it, but it looks like it will crumble and make a mess in the tank. Should I remove it anyways?

I'd just leave it be, but that's just me. You'll probably make more of a mess taking it out then if you just let it alone. I don't have the 7 day feeders, but I do have the smaller three day blocks...and yes, I actually put them in my tank on purpose for the occasional treat for my nerite snails. They love the calcium in them!

Take it out and do a good water change.

Thanks so much. Did a 40% and will do another tomorrow. To clarify, how long may I leave tetras for a holiday without feeding them?
