I recently got a 150 gallon tank off craigslist that I plan on turning into a Discus Tank. Currently I have 5 discus in a 55 gallon that will be moved into the 150 g when I'm done. When I bought the 150 gallon it had a crack on the bottom from front to back. I have already removed the bottom glass and am replacing it with a double plywood bottom coated in pond shield. Thanks for looking and I will keep you updated.

Here is my last build, it's a 55 gallon acrylic with a modern dresser and a hinged canopy with aluminum accents.
I also built the slate background ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1400607846.890190.jpg ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1400607715.286088.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1400607748.877063.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1400607797.786511.jpg

Looking sweet !!! What size do you plan on putting in there ? Adults (5-6.5") you can easily do 10-12-15 depending on your other stock. Filtration plans for this one ?

Right now I have 5 about 3" so I want about 10-12 along with other discus friendly fish. For filter I plan on 2 canister filters and probably a Hob but not sure yet.

3" are pretty small for a 150. Will require a lot of power feeding and WC's to get them up to 6-7". I like your thoughts of the canisters. I run Fluval on all mine and love them. May be a better choice for one FX6 and and then keep or lose the HOB. FWIW, no carbon.

Your 55 gal. looks amazing! I'm excited to see how your 150 gal. turns out. Tagging along!

I would like to start with 5 " Discus but there so expensive at that size. Thanks for the advice.

I finished attaching the bottom with silicone and let dry for 48 hours. Then I filled with water and let it sit for 24 hours and glad to report there were no leaks !ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1401062467.051534.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1401062484.346386.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1401062498.651697.jpgl
