Bought a c530 marnieland canister filter hooked it up yesterday kept old filter on,so new one could cycle but my nitrates and nitrites have spiked badly ive done water changes but nothing helping ! What cani do

I have a 90 gal tank old filter is a 100 gal canister

You want to keep your nitrites as close to zero as possible. I'd reccomend a big change like 70% and then some 25-30% the next couple days to be safe.

If you only added the new filter and still have the old filter going there should be no change in your test results. did you do something to the old filter?

I moved the tank about a week ago used same filter and most of the same water
Test results are lower this morning

Agreed simply adding more filtration should not cause higher nitrates if old filter still running . How long was old filter standing while change took place ?
