Hi guyz, i just noticed, when i fed my fish, that i had some foam in my (guppy/platty) tank. i had nerver seen that before, foam is located near the filter and on top , right against the front "window" if anyone has any informacion on wath to do please help me thank you!

The foam is from dissolved organic compounds in the water <from fish waste & also uneaten food, esp. ones that are oily>. Sometimes it will appears as an oily sheen on top of the water.

It is not really dangerous, although it may indicate inadequate pwc. The easiest way to get rid of it is to have your filter skim the top of the water so it will take it out. <You might need an adapter with a canister, other filters might not be settable in that position.>

Some people have float paper towels on top of the water to absorb the layer. If you set up a gravel vac just right, you can also skim off the top foam. <I start the vac, then make a u bend in the water so the vac is a mm or so under water. You quickly get the knack of it so you can skim of the top without breaking siphon.>
