Just want to know how many hours per night should my sump light stay on? Sump is a 40 gallon breeder tank with live rock and has different kinds of algae. Right now I have a 65 watt plant grow light bulb, and running it for four hours at night when all the main tank lights are off.

Thanks for your input.:-D

I have a 40 gallon refugium under my tank and the light stays on 24/7. I know alot of folks run theirs oppisite of the main tank lights. I run grape calerpa in my fuge so I have to run 24/7 or it might go sexual and turn my water white. That`s just what I do.

If you want to grow macro, 4 hrs isn't enough. You can either run the lights the same schedule as your tank or set them to run the opposite. When the tank lights are out, the sump lights are on. You can also have them on all the time as Mike mentioned.

Well thanks for the information, I will keep it on all the time and see how it goes.
