Hello! I am a returning fan of keeping fish. I have brushed up my knowledge on basic care of keeping fish and establishing a nitrogen cycle. My set up I am PLANNING on will include-
1) 30 gallon long aquarium
2) 2 bio-wheel filters. (I want 2 for a few reasons.. One because it will obviously have more GPH circulation, and also because I can switch back and forth from changing cartridges so I don't lose beneficial bacteria needed to maintain a healthy nitrogen cycle
3)appropriate air pump
4) fine gravel to encourage bacterial growth
5) fake plants and decorations
6) thermometer
7) full test kit
8) fish (obviously)
My questions include:
-are any items missing?
-will my two bio-wheel filtration idea work? Also will it be a good home for beneficial bacteria? Or should I put some sponges in there too?
-fish less or fish in cycle? Why? Instructions on it?
-what fish should I get? I like peaceful looking environments
-once cycle has been established, how should I MAINTAIN it? What should I do daily, weekly and monthly?
-any other tips??
