Hello and welcome to the forums!

You've chosen some beautiful fish there. None of which I have recent experience with!

I'd certainly go with the largest tank your budget will allow. It will allow more flexibility, stability and save you money upgrading later ;)

welcome to AA!! the only ones i don't have personal experience with are both of the badis. i do know that they can be finicky eaters and sometimes only accept live foods, they will also be easily outcompeted for food so i would say no go on those. other than that most of these fish are beginner fish. if you go with an opaline gourami, only do one. if you go with dwarf gouramis, you can get away with 2 female and 1 male, though the females are much less common and don't have the colors that males have. make sure that if you get schooling fish, you get at least 6 of each for them to school together i.e. the celestial pearl danios, threadfins, skunk corydoras, rasboras and hatchetfish. i agree go with the biggest tank you can. if you go with a 30 you will probably be able to keep half of the fish on your list. something like 2 dwarf gourami 1m 1f, 7 skunk corydoras, 7 hatchet fish and 7 of two mid level schoolers or one big group of 15

Thanks for the welcoming, I have my eye on a 36 gallon which is pretty big I think it will accommodate the fish well.

Is it a 36g bowfront? If it is, then it's the same tank I have an I love it! Good depth and width

Fish sound great! I've had experience with all the fish there, probably the most finicky would be the badis fish, I used a turkey vaster to feed them and it went good, I would only do one gourami, even though you can try to add females, sometimes the males will even turn agressive on females, and females are a kind of boring silver color, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

The badis is beautiful I think it would be worth the trouble, and nice choice on the pearl I saw them too.

???? What kind of fish is this? I didn't know where to post so ill ask here

I would get a bumble bee catfish or a banjo catfish or two, very cool fish, some of my personal favorites

Very cool fish indeed, what was everyone's starting fish?

That Banjo catfish is very interesting, doesn't look aggressive but is cool as hell

It is a very cool fish, not agressive at all, you can get a pair if you like
My starter fish were goldfish, defenetely not that starter but it worked

So I decided im gonna start small on a 20 gallons some driftwood I'm also gonna include live plants. I want some tiger barbs a school of them 3 otocinclus catfish
