Agreed, and I have doubts as to its usefulness on a standard tank like a 55g. I would go with Finnex over this.

It's got some power.. about the same as ecoexotic though.. around the same price too.. I'm waiting for the finnex 24/7 before I waste..ermmm spend any more on lighting..

I would just use one of these. Each one can light a 2 - 3 foot section of tank thoroughly. With it being dimmable you can have the light as powerful as you want. I'm using one for my 20g betta tank atm.

And they are suitable for a reef tank when you decide to fully dive into the hobby and go full reef

You don't need reds. The 6500k bulbs have plenty of reds all by themselves.
