My plants in my 55g stopped growing a while back and started growing some kind of black mold/algae on all the leaves, which is a pain to get off. I finally realized that it was probably my lights, because it had been close to a year since I got the grow bulbs for my standard fixture. I did my research and saw that you should have 2-3 watts per gallon and I had about 1 watt per 2 gallons with new lights. So yesterday I went to Home Depot and got two, 40 watt, T12 bulb, 4 foot shop lights with two bulbs each, and daylight bulbs (6500k, 40w, 2325lumens, cri 84). How are those? I also realized alot about 20,000k+ bulbs that are proper for saltwater, does that mean that 6500k is not right for my fw planted 55 tank? I also have to mount them somehow...I'm designing a hood, any hints on that?
