Ok so I just got my Raphael cat I've wanted for some time, so I went to petsmart and got it I noticed that all the catfish had this thing on their head, it kind of looks like if they are peeling their head, or a scar on their head, is it something young Raphael's have? He is about 1.5-2 inches long thanks
I know the pics are kind of blurry, I'll put better ones after I put it in the tank
Thanks

Well, he's just in the glass behind a plant, is this normal, and what do you guys think that on his head is?

I can't see anything abnormal about his head. Does he have his own cave to retreat to? He will probably want to hide for a few days. They are known to be shy and because they are also nocturnal, you may not see it swimming until lights out when you feed it. The size of the tank they are kept in is a factor also- with smaller tanks causing them to be more shy.
They live a very long time (up to 30yrs) and are are a pretty hardy cat. Too expensive here and the thought of getting stuck by those spines has deterred me from taking the plunge. Lol
Beautiful specimen! Lucky you! :)

Thank you for the help:)

He is in a 29 gallon, he is very tiny! He does have a cave to retreat and a root piece, but he is just hiding behind the plant, I'm switching to sand soon, so that ought to make him more comfortable
I also have a question, he chewed on one of my pellets and then left it alone, are these good to feed him?
Here is a picture of him, the tank, and the food
