New to Planted aquariums

I am new to aquariums but have my 20 gallon under control. I i understand everything about the fish i have, but I want to start growing live plants in my aquarium as well. i have an incandescent hood, but i put florescent bulbs. i put in some dwarf hairgrass as well but cant tell if it is growing yet, i saw that it didnt catch on the substrate yet and i was wondering if i am doing anything wrong or what i can do to help..

It seems that needs a bit more light, its probably going to live, but not grow as fast as you might like. PlantGeek.net - Eleocharis acicularis that said thats a pretty popular sight for looking up what plants to try/use.

but it will grow? do you have any suggestions for good plants to use, i have a moss ball but i was kinda looking for something more interesting hah.
