Newbie questions

I'm fairly new to the site, so I have some questions about how the site works.

So I was looking at some of the member's names that are on the "members currently on" list or something like that on the bottom of the page and some of the names are in green and some of names are bolded. what does that mean?

Also, what are the green squares under your name? I've got two, but I have no idea how i got them.

I believe the bold names at the bottom are mods, and the green names are supporters. The green blocks are reputation points. If you help someone out they can give you reputation points by clicking the white scale under your username and info. A member may give a few rep points or a lot, depending on how much they have.

yup see how my name is in green? mfdrookie's name would be in bold bc im a supporter and he's a moderator

I actually had a question, do you become a supporter by donating to the site?

you can. i was invited to be one. i dont know how often they do that.

If you click on the green Aquarium Advice Supporter badge at left, it will give details on the benefits and costs associated with becoming a supporting member.
