I was having trouble trying to get rid of nitrates, even after many water changes.
-This is a brand new API liquid nitrate test. I'm wondering if I got a bad kit. I get roughly the same result from both of my tanks and the tap water - it looks to be around 30 - 40 ppm. I thought this was strange, so I tested a sample of distilled water from my dehumidifier, and it tested at zero (as it should).
-The local water quality report disagrees with my test: Water Quality Data | Des Moines Water Works
Has anyone else in Des Moines tested their tap water recently?
