No / low Tec planted jar plant suggestions

Hey everyone! I had an old account on here a few years ago and couldn't get it reset, but here we are!
I am about to go to college and I really want to have something in my dorm that I enjoy, and I had a lot of planted tanks in the past.
Our max size is one gallon, which isn't much to work with stock wise, but plant wise should be a happy little jar.
I do not have the jar yet but I will be getting it soon.
I would like some suggestions for plants to put in my jar, mostly green but some color would be appreciated too.
I don't want to have a whole bunch of stuff plugged into this tiny jar, but if the plants need a light I'd like some suggestions as well. And any dosing suggestions for them are greatly appreciated!

I have some anubias and Java fern trimmings in a jar that I just change out the water for and that seems to be working fine. Those plants seem to be virtually bomb proof, though! I bet you'll find some ideas in that thread.
