Noobie needs advice

Soo I have some amazon spears in my tank and they keep turning brown on me I have plenty of light on them so idk what the deal is And the other thing bothering me is that I'm starting to notice algae growing on the front of my tank what do I do? Wipe it off?

Do you dose fertilizers? Root tabs? Look into that. And could but algea eaters or plecos depending on tank size. Could sponge it off too, or use a new cheap toothbrush
