I have id'd the critter (with help from Hara) to be a Pistol Shrimp, and she suggested I get a whatchman goby (i think). But I am so relieved its not a mantis.

Carefull there. Pistols can shatter glass aquariums with and have been known to attack the red light on heaters thinking its food.

I have never had an Issue with my Pistol in my main tank.. He has been in there for a almost a year now.. He is about 2-2 1/2".. He is a Blue Legged pistol... I have since caught him and Put him in my 10g Fuge and I have not had an issue with him in there either... Very cool when you get the Yellow Watchman or other Shrimp goby to go with them...

I have a pistol shrimp/ yellow watchman goby pair and they are a lot of fun to watch. They live together in a coave dug by the shrimp. The yellow watchman brings it food. I have never had a problem with my heater or the shrimp attacking glass. I say go for it.
