Odd growing stuff...

Every day is a new adventure, right?!

So, I get home from work and check on my 3 tanks. I notice in my 20 gallon something white growing all over the mopani driftwood I added a couple days ago.

Looks like a white mucus... and one of my ghost shrimp is eating it...

Any other info needed to identify this mystery substance?

And of course, how can I make it begone/ prevent it from growing again.

Its normal it will go away on its own and its completely safe. You can clean it off but it will keep coming back

Well that's a relief...

Is it just some sort of algae?

It is some type of fungus, I had it and it went away on its own. Here is a pic.

Seems to have mostly cleared up over night, couple small spots left in crevices of the wood. Looks like my rainbow shark was eating it when I woke up today om nom nom
