hi guys. i dont have any pictures, because i havent seen this guy myself. however, my grandma tells me she sees a peculiar snail which comes out at night. a slightly conical shaped shell, although i daresay its not a cone snail of any sort.. or her fish would be toasted. but she says it has a long probiscous like snout that comes out and it prods around. the shell is a uniform brown color. any ideas? i dont expect an exact sp. but.. any general idea of any kind of names which i can look up and show to my grandma? thanks bunches.:)

Look for google images of Whelk and tulip snails. Both can be somewhat similar in appearance but both are predaceous and worse yet, females can store the males sperm for several months making reproduction possible.

Cheers
Steve

oh my! thank you so much for the information steve. when i was there, she said she'd capture it for me to show me. fearing it could be something dangerous, i told her not to use her hands to grab it. just safety precaution. i'll look up those images and ask her if they look proper. thanks again :)
