Open Brain Skeleton Showing

I have recently received an open brain as a gift from a friend. I was disapointed with the lfs store for selling it as soon as i saw it. The outside ridge on a section of one side was completely exposing its skeleton. I thought maybe I could save it and one of the polyps did eat the fist week but the other one was just shriveled up hardly recognizable. Since then, the skeleton exposed section has grown and it is not eating anymore. My only hope is that the tissue still swells during midday light and has some color. Is there any hope for this sick brain? Is there any thing I can do to help it?

It might be ok, hard to tell really. If it makes you feel better, my lfs was selling goniorpias. I told them that they were damaged and going to die, as they always do with just a small injury. Next week it was a skeleton.
