I have one blackmoor or oranda (can some tell me the difference and which one i have?). Are they ok to be on their own or do they prefer to be kept with another. If so should this be make/female?

You have a black moor. The difference is Orandas don't have big eyes, and they develope a fleshy "hood" around their heads. How big is your tank?

Great thanks. Its a 120L tank and i have 5 platies in there as well. I need to sort my platy issue first as i have 2 Males 2 females and 1 young. One of the females is looking a bit sorry for herself and i think she may be ill but if i take her out then it will be 2:1 males:females.

120L is big enough for just one goldfish when it's fullgrown IMO. And you really should keep them seperate from tropical fish.

Thanks for the reply. Perhaps I should separate them. What type can I put with the black moor. Seems a bit sad to have just him in there.
