Pale fish

I Have 4 tiger barbs and they are all pale why is this

Well it could be for a few reasons.
They are stressed for some reason. Bad water conditions, aggression, illness, moving tank, etc.
Fish dull their coloring when the lights are out and they are sleeping.
If you can provide some more information then we can pinpoint why and if it's normal.

Do you test your water? Ammonia? Nitrites? Nitrates?
If so, what are your levels?

How big of a tank do you have?

How long have you had this tank?

Let's start there..

What other fish?
How old is the tank?
Is it cycled?
What are the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH?
What's the water change schedule?
How long have you had the fish?
Any other symptoms? Spots, fuzz, odd breathing, gasping, listlessness?
When are they dull? When lights come on, all the time, during water change?
