Aquarium Advice Activist
I have been having a problem with phosphates in my tank. They are over 5.0 ppm. I have done several water changes, to no avail. I have even used a phosphate remover/activated carbon in my filter (AquaClear 150). I have reduced the problem to being either the carbon itself leaching phosphates into the water, or over feeding. I have since removed the carbon portion of my filter and just left the sponge. What can I do to remove phosphates quickly? My live plants are looking horrible because the algae is out of control. I have 0.0 nitrates present in the tank. All chemicals and water added to the tank are phosphate free. Any suggestions?
