Aquarium Advice Activist
I got a blue mickey mouse platy yesterday, and she has a little bit of white fuzz on the corners of her mouth now. She is swimming actively, and is eating the flakes I just just fed her. She did not have the fuzz this morning when I left for work. The other two platies are fine. I also have three cherry shrimp and live plants in the tank. If i treated the tank with pimafix and/or melafix, would the plants and invertebrates be harmed? Is there a better medication anyone can suggest?
My tank's temperature has climbed to 85 degrees in the past few days, due to summer heat. Perhaps this plus moving the fish into a new tank has caused the fungus to appear on her? How in the world can I lower the temperature in the tank? I don't have air conditioning or a lot of money(rent is due ).
I pointed a fan at the tank, uncovered, before I left for work. It didn't lower the temperature. It was really humid today, is that why it didn't lower it?
I read something about a salt bath clearing up the bacteria that cause the "fungus". Anyone know how that works?
