My husband and i are looking for some bigger fish to put in our 55 gallon. We saw pink kissing gouramis at Petsmart and i was wondering if they are good community fish. Thank you.

They're actually pretty aggressive from what I understand (although I have never kept them myself). I wouldn't recommend them for a community tank. If you like gouramis, pearl or blue/gold/opaline would be a better choice imo.

I have kept pink gouramis for years, they are one if the only types that do well with their own kind. Actually they school together:) depending on what other types of fish you were considering putting in with them will be your answer. If its a community of semi aggressive fish you should be fine, I wouldn't however put them in with small non aggressive fish. Mine live with angels and a rainbow shark and they do just fine

We have guppies, a Molly, some tetras, a couple catfish, and we just got a gold gourami, and we have a few mystery snails

I wouldn't get a kissing gourami with smaller tetra or any other type of gourami besides other Kissing Gouramis. If you got rid of the tetras and gold gourami I would say yes you could get 2 Kissing Gouramis with the catfish snail and you could get a school of larger barbs like Rosys to replace the Tetras. Also I would not keep them with Molly's or your guppies it will eat the guppies and probably kill your Molly. Also what type of catfish are they haha not trying to be nosy I just love catfish.

The tetras we have are bigger than the guppies. We have a lamp eye tetra (I'm pretty sure that's what its called) and a black skirt and a white skirt tetra

I don't think I would chance it with the fish you have. There isn't anybody that could really hold their own if the kisser decides to get rowdy. Sad though I love kissers not a lot of people seem to like them though:( really cool fish they have neat personalities

Agreed super cool fish but I wouldn't take the chance. I would up your Cory and pictus catfish schools though I would add 5 Cory's and 2 more pictus cats. Then up each of your tetra schools to 6 of each type.

Well that sucks, any ideas for bigger fish to get that won't be aggressive? We were looking at discus but they're pretty expensive.

So i had to go into work for awhile today and while i was at work my husband decided to go get the pink kissing gourami without telling me. I came home and it was in the tank. Its been in there for like 4 hours now i guess and its mostly just staying in a corner of the tank near the power head. My husband said when he put the gourami in my molly was actually harassing it lol, that would've been funny to see, but my husband moved the molly to my 10 gallon. But so far it hasn't messed with any of the other fish. Do you guys think i should just wait and see how it goes or just return it?

I would return it to be completely honest once he gets bigger he will cause problems. Especially eating the guppies and beating up on your other gourami.

We have a pictus catfish, and a Cory catfish

Be careful, Pictus tend to eat the smaller fish at night just like all wide mouth Catfish. Guppies will be a late night snack as soon as he figures out they fit in his mouth.

Use a container or a metal mesh scoop to catch Pictus, they get caught in nets. Their spines HURT if you get stabbed.

The pictus may eat the guppies but they are a awesome fish I would keep him just because I really like them.

I would but we just bought the 55 gallon not that long ago and we don't really have the money for another one right now lol

That's very understandable I just love tanks lol. I wish I had enough money to fill my house with them haha.
