Planted 55, 100% fake!

Here is another 55 I've done.

'Planted' with artificials. Not one real plant in the tank.

I used to do big planted tanks but don't have much time for maintenance, yet still want nice green aquariums, so I went the fake plant route and enjoy it.


Two 20" 5000K White LED strips from Ebay.
Running two Penguin 200s with my own filter floss/carbon cartridges. I really like those filters and have used them for 20 years.
Two Eheim 150watt heaters.
Tank temp 72

Stocked with hardy and fun to watch community fish. It's been years since I've lost a fish to anything but old age.

Buenos Aries Tetras
Diamond Tetras
Black Skirt Tetras
Upside Down Catfish
Opaline Gouramis
Ramshorn and MTS for cleanup, extras are tossed in the garden pond.

THIS is my ideal tank. Only thing I would change is perhaps using silk instead of plastic plants. I have a purple thumb when it comes to aquarium plants in large part I think because I hate fussing with things so if it doesn't grow without always fiddling with ferts etc. I give up and pull it.

Really nice work with the plants. Makes me wish you had time for the real ones! Still, this is by far one of the best artificial planted tanks I've ever seen. Great job!
