Im not sure what plants-that's your decision. But in order to allow the plants to grow you need proper lighting, co2 and fertilizers.

It just depends on what kind of plants, if it's a low tech you can get away without dosing co2, ferts, or even having an aftermarket light fixture. So the question is, what kind of planted tank?

10g are nice because the hoods they come with are usually enough to provide decent light levels. There are a plethora of plants that will do well in such a 10g, but doing so is your hobby.
