I decided to ask about this in a forum because I can't think of any way to describe it that google understands.

I acquired some new Harlequin Rasboras about 10 days ago. In the store they all seemed to be doing fine (although this store is not the greatest, every time I'm in there they have at least one dead fish somewhere.)

Anyway, I got one home and realized its tail was just slightly damaged. I've been adding Melafix to the tank, and I think it's been improving. It is a little hard to tell. He's got a healthy appetite, brightly colored, schooling with other fish. Seems fine.

BUT

Today I noticed one of his pectoral fins looks completely stuck to itself. It is also no longer transparent, but white. I don't want to say it is clamped, because from what I've read clamping is a behavior. This looks more like the fin has literally been stuck together with something. The fin also looks like it has lost some flexibility. The best way I can describe it is that it looks like he has a plastic fin. He's holding it away from his body at a different angle than the other fin. It doesn't seem to cause him any trouble swimming.

Tank is twenty gallons, heavily planted. About 3-4 months old but cycled. Contains 6 harlies and some MTS. Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 0. One of the fish looked like it might have had some fungus on its face a few days ago. It lasted 2-3 days and then once I got some medicine for it, it seemed to have cleared up on its own.

Is it possible that there is some kind of fungus growing on his fin? I'm having a lot of trouble finding anything describing this anywhere else, so I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this.

Disease is spreading :(
Now another fish has got a milky looking fin as well, and I see another with white starting to grow on the tip of one of its pectoral fins.

Any advice? I've done two .5 mg/l dips of malachite green for about 20 minutes on the original fish. The second time he really didn't like it and was trying to get out of the water so bad I took him out after 7. I've seen no improvement.

I'm thinking I'll do a 10% w/c daily and maybe it will help keep the other fish healthy.

Thank you guys for posting and trying to help me out!
The fish I was originally worried about just died :(

This is another of my fish that looks like it has the same thing going on with its pelvic (anal?) fins.

Also I just found someone on youtube who looks like they had the same problem with a Harlie, but it doesn't say anywhere what happened with it. This is what the fish that just died looked like.

I'm sorry but I can't tell in the pics and can't see the video because it's blocked on my work computer.
