Does anyone have any idea what this is??? It's only about 2mm but it's definitely alive, it moves around on my glass eating algae and stuff.
It has a very hard shell but I don't think it's a snail.
I don't mind it being in my tank since it isn't harming anything, I just want to know what it is.
Thanks

It's related to snails. It is a FW limpet. Yes, they graze on algae and are harmless to plants.

I've had these in one of my tanks before, and when I added some plants that had pond snail on them. the pond snails started to eat all the limpets. This is some thing interesting that I've found so if you don't want limpets get pond snails.:)

I bought some oysters a couple weeks ago that had something very similar on their shells. Maybe a saltwater relative

drink more beer

Yep. I think limpets are more known for their SW species.

Ditto! They do clean surfaces, albeit slowly.

VERY slowly, sometimes it seems to be in the same place the whole day!
