Pleco with cichlid

Can they live with Lamprologus meleagris in a standard 20 gallons and it's a bristlenose

Provided there's sufficient cover, it should be alright.

So how many Lamprologus meleagris should I get I was thinking 4 or 6 and how are they on plants

Ya, start with a group and swap off the extras after you have an established breeding pair.
Fine w/plants as far as not eating them, may dig up rooted stuff though.
