Yeah I trimmed mine the other day

:0 wow! I love that you can plant without roots. Takes away a world of worry. In my 2 gallon betta tank, over the course of 24 hours, a shoot that had grown out of the ana's side had made its way down and into the substrate. Interesting.

Yes those are called ariel roots. They grow deep into my substrate making a huge mess when I trim

What do they do? Grow a new plant?

No they are just roots that secure them to the bottom. When I trim my plants I trim around 90-100 off. If you don't like them you can trim them with no problems

I'd have to get a heater first. I actually planned on using it as a QT but have not purchased any new fish since 2012. So it was just sitting there collecting dust until I removed a bunch of plants from my planted tank.
