No fresh water been without power for 4 hrs now

Temperature is the biggest deal IMO. You can wrap up the tank in blankets to help it stay warm if it is cooling down.This more important then filter by far.

You can put hot water into water bottles and float them in the tank to help keep it warm

The water bottle trick does well with going both ways, with frozen bottles as well.
Also, minnow pumps are everyone's best friend. They are battery operated and can be used in a quick minute to assist with CO2 exchange in case of lengthy power outages if there isn't a battery backup system in place.
