So last Saturday I got a platy from the aquarium store by me. It has always hid and been shy... just today it has come out when I go over to the tank. It was a normal looking fish when I got it... over the last few days it has gotten very large. I don’t know if it was pregnant when I got it, or it’s sick. It hides most of the day and will come out on occasion... eats fine... just hides all day. It gets stringy white poop but I’m not sure if it’s because it will only eat the pellets and not the flakes. I just wanted to get your opinion whether you thought it was sick or pregnant. (It’s just the platy and a sucker fish in my 10 gallon tank)

Thanks in advance

just wait like another couple of days and if it doesnt have any babies you should start doing regular water changes such as every 4-5 days just to keep the water quality at its best.

i have platies and when they lay close to the bottom or are droopy i do a waterchange anyway just to make sure but it eventually gave birth 2 days later

It might do better with more buddies as well. Platties tend to like to school. So it may be a bit stressful on the one to be alone.
It does look like a pregnant female though
