Hello, no need for a skimmer. It will be fine. Just remember to do your water changes!

2g water changes weekly will help you out alot. many with 5g tanks do a 1g wc weekly.

I have skimmer in my ten gallons tank! I have it cuz i'm planning to have a nice and good anemone for my clownfish, and the anemones required a good quality water so needs to be really clean! Also the sps require a good water quality too! So depending in what you want to have in your tank, will be required the skimmer or maybe not. ?
