Has anyone here used their DT as a QT after cycling? Wondering that's a good idea? Waiting for petco to start their dollar per gallon sale but in the mean time would like to get some fish in the tank.

Some people don't even use a QT. If you put the fish in your DT you run the risk of parasites and disease in the tank for future use. I only use my QT for viewing fish before adding them to the DT or medicating fish before the DT.

Wouldn't you be able to monitor the fish there. I get the Risk and if a person goes fowlr for a while worst case he/she can medicate on the spot

The use of a QT tank is to help prevent disease and parasites entering the display tank. This can be done by use of hyposalinity or even copper based medications. These two ways of prevention will kill off the beneficial bacteria or even prevent keeping any possible inverts in the system as the copper leaches into the rock.
