Can live plants grow in gravel substrate like this ?
rkilling1 said:It not the 'best' choice, but will be just fine. As a matter of fact, you could just cut all of the roots off of a SAM and it will do just fine as long as it has a way of getting nutriets. IE water column.

Mundle said:I have th same substrate but I'm not sure if they need co2
I have Two air stones
What does SAM mean ?
And what do you mean by water column?
Mundle said:I've had java fern for a month now
They even started giving off sub plants
Elodea around a week and a half
rkilling1 said:SAM - submerged aquatic macrophyte. IE a plant that grows under water.
Water column - the water that is in the tank surrounding the SAM.

Only my room light which is on for max 3 hours a day
rkilling1 said:Stephen, please forgive me, but all you have talked about is your substrate. You need more then a substrate to grow plants. What type of non-crazy light do you have?
