This species is hardy but is an aggressive feeder. It has been known to eat sessile invertebrates including clams, urchins, oysters, anemones, and all manner of corals (soft or stony). Is also known to prey on sleeping, slow or weak fish. The general rule of thumb is that if the starfish can catch it, it will try to eat it.
As with all invertebrates, it cannot tolerate high nitrates or copper-based medications. It should also be drip acclimated over a minimum 2 hour period.
Supplement with meaty items a couple times a week.
